RFX
In procurement, RFX is a general term that refers to a
family of procurement documents and processes that begin with
"Request for X," where “X” can stand for Information, Proposal, Quotation,
Tender, etc.
Common Types of RFX:
- RFI (Request for Information) – Used to gather general information and
explore the market.
- RFP (Request for Proposal) – Used to solicit detailed solutions and pricing
for a defined need.
- RFQ (Request for Quote) – Used to obtain pricing for well-specified goods
or services.
- RFT (Request for Tender) – Similar to RFP, often used in public sector or
formal bidding environments.
Why Use the Term RFX?
- It acts as a catch-all term to refer to any formal request document in the
procurement process.
- It’s often used in discussions about procurement software or systems that manage multiple
types of sourcing events.
